This was one our first "major renovations". Just about complete gut of down stairs area and rebuild to all new finishes and specs. Again, homeowner knew what she wanted down to the finest details, but needed someone to put it all together. These days it's so nice that the homeowners have so much at their fingertips that help with ideas. Because I'm far from a design expert, and my tastes are not always what my clients like, it sure make our lives easy when people come to us and simply say "build this", with a portfolio of pictures and ideas.
She hated the layout of the kitchen and there was no flow between the kitchen and living area. And like so many people today, the open concept is a huge "must" these days. So we completely removed a separating wall, bumped out another, and now the transition is seamless for about 45 foot. She also wanted to remove a wall separating the living room and a "den" style room. But once we opened it up, we noticed the plumbing from one of the bathrooms upstairs was in the wall. So we had a choice of completely re-routing it, which would have cost several thousands, or to keep in place and simply disguise it. So her choice was to hide it with a column. So we built two columns that fit the space perfectly.
All new custom built cabinets, all new granite countertops, new soap stone/travertine backsplash, Knotty Alder doors, appliances, new porcelain tile t/out entire bottom area, new electrical, plumbing. This was a great project for us and we are greatful for the opportunity we had to do it.
